With the summer holidays upon us, it’s time to make the most of the sunny days and warm evenings. Watford is home to a variety of events and activities catering to all ages and interests.

Below we’ve compiled a guide to some events and activities you won’t want to miss.

Enjoy the Sun at Cassiobury Park

Cassiobury Park, one of Watford’s largest and most beloved green spaces, is perfect for a family day out. This summer, the park will host a wide array of events, all just a few minutes’ walk from The Clarendon. Some highlights include:

  • Wednesday, 7th August (11:00-12:30), Wooded Area: Engage in nature craft and wild play activities, perfect for kids and families looking to spend some time outdoors
  • Sunday, 11th August & Monday, 26th August: Cassiobury Farm Open Day will showcase their rare breed’s farm. Enjoy a bouncy castle, face painting, fishing, crazy golf, mini-tractor rides, and pedalos – a fun-filled day for the kids
  • Saturday, 17th – Monday, 26th August: Experience the Watford Colourscape, a labyrinth of light and sound in Cassiobury Park
  • Sunday, 1st September (15:00-17:00), Cassiobury Park Bandstand: Alex Williams and The SJ Jazz 5 band will perform a free-of-charge concert!

Beyond these events, the park is a great spot for families to enjoy a picnic, relax by the River Gade, let the kids enjoy the splash pool, or visit the miniature railway.

Outdoor Cinemas

The Big Screen will be returning to the town centre of Watford this summer, just a 10-minute walk from The Clarendon. Enjoy free outdoor cinema screenings with deckchairs available for early arrivals. Films include “Wonka,” “Trolls,” “Bob Marley,” “Mean Girls,” “The Marvels,” and many more.

Knutsford Playing Fields is set to be another fantastic outdoor cinema location in Watford this summer. Bring your picnic blankets, deckchairs, and a picnic to enjoy screenings of old favourites and new releases. Traders and small funfair rides will also be on-site to keep the kids entertained.

Atria Summer Bonanza

Throughout August, the Atria will host a range of free activities, including live music and creative crafts for children to enjoy:

  • Urban Crafts for Cool Kids: Every Wednesday, free crafting workshops from 11:00-16:00 in Charter Place.
  • Gymboree Play and Music: Tailored for children under 5, these sessions filled with dance, singing, games, and bubbles will run every Friday from 10:00-10:45 in the pop-up space in Charter Place.
  • Summer Sessions Live Music: Every Saturday, you will also find live music performances at the Atria Watford throughout the summer, adding a little extra to your weekend shopping trip.
