Watford, home to The Clarendon, is not just superbly connected to central London for those who fancy an action-packed day – it also offers a wealth of activities locally for everyone. Whether you’re an outdoorsy type or someone who enjoys a cosy evening in a local pub, there is no shortage of things to do and places to explore.
This autumn, one of Watford’s best-known attractions, Warner Bros. Studio, is putting a dark spin on its renowned Harry Potter tours, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience the iconic sets from the Harry Potter film series in a spookier setting. Step into Hogwarts’ Great Hall with over 100 pumpkins floating over your head, learn duelling techniques in its Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom or practice your spell-casting skills as you confront the Death Eaters.
The local community takes Halloween seriously, so why not head to Watford Market for the Halloween iteration of its ‘Market Lates’ on Friday 1st November – a fantastic opportunity to soak in the festive atmosphere.
There will be local musicians, craft beer, a pop-up bar and abundant Halloween-inspired street food from around the globe, including Caribbean, Asian and Korean creations, which can all be enjoyed in the market’s covered casual dining space. Wearing fancy dress is highly encouraged!
If cosying up in a pub is your definition of an evening well spent, look no further than one of Watford’s much-loved institutions. The Prince George Watford offers a programme of events, including week-day quiz nights and weekend live music concerts, with raw and energetic tunes from James Chapman and The Blue Moon, whose style is best described as a blend of country and blues with the spirit of legends like Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley.
For lovers of outdoor entertainment, Watford Borough Council is organising Hertfordshire’s largest free fireworks display at Cassiobury Park on 2nd November. Watford’s local radio station, Vibe 107.6FM will be entertaining the public on stage with live music from Pat and the Butchers and a magnificent fireworks display scheduled for 7.30pm. With a range of food and beverage options on offer, bouncy slides and trampolines for the little ones, there will be plenty of things to keep the whole family entertained and well fed before the fireworks even begin.
Whether you’re new to Watford and The Clarendon or know the town like the back of your hand, it never fails to deliver quality entertainment all year round.
